Little Red Flags

Nearly a hundred of us gathered last week to hear from the Dental Practice Advisors to hear about “Staying Out of Trouble”. As well as high quality presentations we heard from a practitioner who turned his career around following some major issues in practice. It was a great encouragement to hear how supportive colleagues had been once he asked for help, I’m sure all of us were very moved.

One of the themes of the presentations was “little red flags 🚩 “. These are present on the Dental Assurance Framework reports that NHSE use to assess our practice. More red flags equals more scrutiny, and invariably more work for the practitioner in justifying why they were an “outlier”.

But these aren’t the little red flags I want to talk about today – I want to talk about the red flags that let us know we’re struggling and need support. Many dentists I speak to have sleepless nights, can’t focus on their family as they worry about UDA’s, or lack thereof, and fail to enjoy the lifestyle that hard working densists are perceived to have.  These issues can often isolate us and leave us feeling overwhelmed, ultimately leading to serious issues in personal and professional life.

If you find yourself spotting little red flags in your life, you won’t be alone. There are many collegeues out there going through the same issues. Don’t leave it until it’s too late, get in touch with the LDC and start to build your support network. As the BDA say “together we’re stronger”, reach out help@liverpoolldc.com.
