Glasgow LDC letter of concern

The LDC’s of Cheshire and Merseyside agree with the concerns expressed in this letter.

We understand that all patient contact in dentistry risks Aerosol Generation due to suction being required to safely operate, and the regular induction of cough during procedures.

Both Aerosol Generating Procedures and cough induction require the highest level of protection under PHE advice on possible or confirmed cases. Due to the potential number of infective patients who are asymptomatic we believe a universal precautions approach should be adopted for the safety of the dental team.
